Rise from the Ted? Cruz campaign may be renewed

Post by Hortator »

"Secret Conservative Dinner Held to Plan Resurgence of Cruz’s Presidential Prospects"

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2016/06 ... prospects/

(A minor aside, the blaze has been doing terribly business wise this year, http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/theblaze.com I don't know why.)

To put this in brief, about 20 leaders of the GOP wine and dined with Ted Cruz the day before yesterday. These 20 leaders which seem to be left out of the report beholden Ted to be the next Ronald Reagan (or Messiah if you ask Rick :P ) citing similarities between Reagan's roaring come back in 1980 after losing the nomination in 1976.

So if I'm reading the tea leaves right, Ted Cruz is a dead-lock for contender in 2020. But for the time being, the GOP wont try to monkey with the Trump train?

Also of note to this particular website, ' The Texas lawmaker has not yet endorsed the billionaire businessman, but has pledged to use his leverage at the GOP Convention in July to ensure “Judeo-Christian principles” remain on the party’s platform. '

Opinions, thoughts, tomatoes you want to throw? Let's hear them.

Um...

For the umpteenth time, God said Ted Cruz will be the next POTUS. Not in 2020, NOW!

I don't think you understand how these prophecies work.
John 5:24

Six months ago I was sure that Trump would be a sideshow. A month ago I was sure that he's be the nominee. Today I wouldn't be surprised if the RNC changed the convention rules on him and showed him the door.

He's been on a tear lately, saying stupid things, offending everyone, and embarrassing the Republican establishment. Paul Ryan actually called some of his comments racist. He was right, but wow! The Senate Majority Leader actually went on national television and slammed his party's presumptive presidential nominee for being racist?!?! And Trump's response was to tell Ryan to "just be quiet." This whole thing is bizarre and unprecedented. It seems like the campaign is in disarray, the candidate has no self-control, the big donors want nothing to do with any of it, and we're not even past the convention! Anyway, I wouldn't be too surprised if the RNC gave up on winning the Presidency this year and jettisoned Trump in a desperate bid to protect their congressional and gubernatorial candidates.

That said, I can't see Ted Cruz getting the nod. Maybe Kasich? That would be something. Greatest slow-play in history.

Could someone come up with another couple of candidates. But not Cruz, or, etc, etc,

It is just sour grapes for some in politics on the right.I don't see it happening.

I think I have figured out why you on the left don't like Trump. You're use to wimpy Republicans who don't fight back politically and always get pushed around by the Democrats politically and yet Trump fights back politically. It might surprise you to know but many on the right have been disgusted with the wimpyness on the right where the Republicans can have a majority in the House and Senate and have a Republican President and they still get pushed around by the Democrat Party and conservatives get nothing election after election.Well many of us and have been hoping for a leader who fights back just as hard as the Democrats, liberal media, etc do and that is Donald Trump.

He is not a wimp politically, you hit him? And he hits you back even harder politically. So although Trump may have left a bad taste in your mouth many of us see what we have been hoping for and waiting on, to finally have a fighter.Trump is nice, but if you attack him? He hits you back harder and we've needed this on the right in politics. No more political correctness either. So we just don't have a wimpy Republican now and he will fight back if\ when he is attacked politically and I love it. The left is getting back what they've been doing politically to those on the right for years.

Liberals? Trump's approval rating among likely voters across the political spectrum is 29%.

The approval rating of the liberal mainstream news media is 6%.You shouldn't believe the liberal media as they have been wrong this whole campaign season and have no credibility.I do not trust them, when they report on something about 90% of the time believe the opposite, therefore Trump is winning and Hillary is behind.

It's official now:

http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/17/politics/ ... organized/

RNC releases a "conscience clause" to allow delegates to change their selection at the eleventh hour for any reason whatsoever based on "conscience" (quid pro quos come to mind instead of consciences)

This goes back to something that has been said for 10 years now: Republicans have absolutely no courage. If a conflict arises, the first instinct of a Republic(an) is to play dead. Then cave, give in to whatever your opponent wants, and be a glorious loser y#-o

They won't fight, and if they are cornered, they won't fight fairly, even if their opponent has the numbers behind them. No matter what you feel about Trump, this last-minute stuff is a low hit.

Doesn't that just add weight to the argument that the peoples' votes should have more meaning? Take the power from the delegates who may not vote as the people want, and give it back to the people.

Did you link the wrong article or something? That one just says that the never-Trump delegates are still trying to get the "conscience clause" into the rules. It didn't mention the RNC actually putting it in place.

Also, wouldn't it take some courage to risk everything do get rid of Trump, rather than just hanging on and hoping for the best?

To take up Rick's chant, Ted Cruz will be the next US President won't he? I have complete faith in God!

For the first, I just took my buddy's word on this when I read it and posted it before reading

For the second, I'm not really sure. Politics is messy, so fighting dirty seems rather fitting. Lines blur and things seem grey.

It's not just end of the day fatigue, I am also really fatigued by Trump at this point. Otherwise I'd give better analysis

Yes! This whole discussion is a mute moot point.
