Pray for my son!

Post by Philip »

Or me. My 18-year-old just informed me he plans to grow a "man bun." Now, having had hair halfway down my back (in the '70s), at his age - well, I drove my dad insane; he was always on me to cut my hair. But a MAN BUN???!!! Really, I told my son that those were for people trying to look hip, but who, instead, actually end up looking like an idiot. Really, those two words should be considered an oxymoron - with only morons actually having them. Actually, I guess I made the universal strategic "dad" mistake - criticize something a kid thinks is cool, and he'll only think it MORE cool. So, prayers, all around, please! LOL (well, kind of  ).

They're evil, I say!

I rest my case!

The man bun.
Used to be know as a warrior's knot (top knot).
It meant something.
Just one more thing fashion has anally raped.

Let him have the bun. Hair styles aren't permanent. At least it's not a tattoo.

Hey, Paul - I'd forgotten how ancient martial warriors had a bit of a MB

If you know the context of this photo, you are officially OLD!

Well, I wouldn't mind it if he got a tasteful tattoo... like one of those actually exists!

But, at a very young age, he is very serious about his faith and sharing it. So the proposed MB isn't really something I am seriously concerned with - though it did really surprise me. Far more concerned with what he looks like on the inside. Maybe I should try a different strategy: "Hey, son, I think you'd really rock a cool MB." But, too late, I'm afraid.

If he's not too old to fall for reverse psychology, show him some pictures of really dorky people with man buns, and try to convince him how good it makes them look.

You mean there are photos of such people that DON'T look dorky? I doubt it!
