Putin held an annual address recently, and spoke of the UN and many other factors, really a must watch if any of the things in the subject line interests you.

Spoke across a range of these matters, very clearly and succinctly. Something that won't ever be presenting in Western media, because he'd look to talk too much sense I suppose.

PS. I'm not a Putin supporter, but then, often find myself agreeing with his analysis. For example, re: the UN, I don't think it'll ever work, where he thinks it can be tweaked.

Autoritarian rulers have been part of Russian history since czarist times. As a result of this, Russians understand the need for the strong man - a dictator - that many nations need to keep the peace within their borders. Democracy is a very bad option for some cultures. Very bad. Americans don't understand this and probably can't accept it from an ideological perspective. That's one problem.

Another problem is the UN itself. It's a supranational "democratic" institution that is being overtaken by countries that have contempt for democracy and the rule of law. Dohhhhhh........
