If there is a stretch of absolutely straight road 100 miles long on the ground and you flew over it at 20,000 feet would the distance you flew through the air from one end to the other be less than 100 miles, greater than 100 miles or 100 miles?
If you had two poles two miles tall at least, 100 miles apart, and you had one rope stretched as tight as possible one mile from the bottom and another one two miles from the bottom of the poles to each other would the two ropes be the same length?
