But you are here.

Thought I would post this poem I wrote. Hope you like it.
But you are here.
If I woke to a summer’s day
With the gentle breeze blowing my way
And the birds singing sweetly in the trees
But you’re not there, would I care?
If I heard a voice so pure
Singing melodies so sure
Rousing choruses exquisitely tuned
But you’re not there, would I care?
If laughter filled the place
Bringing smiles upon our face
Sides hurting us as we gasp for air
But you’re not there, would I care?
If all the money came rolling in
Like a massive lottery win
All financial problems a thing of the past
But you’re not there, would I care?
If I have the love of friends all around
With relationships, so profound
A companion at the end of every call
But you’re not there, would I care?
If I am feeling rather ill
Everyday taking a pill
Feeling rough with no end in sight
But you are here, would I fear?
Feeling betrayed by ones I call friend
Let down by ones on which I depend
Abandoned by all and left alone
But you are here, would I fear?
Life is piling on stress
My work and relationships in a mess
Lost in a world that does not care
But you are here, would I fear?
If I am sick of starvation
Feeling oppressed by domination
Having no hope of freedom in my life
But you are here, would I fear?
If I have nothing left to give
And have lost the will to live
I am at the end of everything I am
But you are here, would I fear?
Without you, happiness is meaningless
With you fear has no hold
With Jesus Christ in our heart
A Father’s grace that will never part
And a Spirit that strengthens me with joy
I will face the fears of today
And keep the darkness at bay
The enemies greatest weapon will I destroy.
But you are here.
If I woke to a summer’s day
With the gentle breeze blowing my way
And the birds singing sweetly in the trees
But you’re not there, would I care?
If I heard a voice so pure
Singing melodies so sure
