Rick and others down Florida way

FYI - been trading emails with Rick since last night - his power first failed late yesterday, and has been back off since morning. VERY near him, there are creeks that have sent floodwaters from the ocean and river, that have flooded many houses just a half mile away from him - so let's keep his family and others impacted by these hurricanes in our prayers. His area is very flat, but he's on a bit of a rise. Around 9 pm, he emailed and said he thinks his high ground will be high enough.
Incredibly, even though I'm 120 miles inland from SC's coast, you would not believe the intensity of the wind and damage, even in my area - many huge trees down - and my acreage has limbs and debris down all over - not sure, may have lost some trees in the woods, which is where you want them to fall. Never lost power, thankfully. All our electric stuff is underground. Only in the last hours has the high wind finally died down.

It's bad here. 400-500 homes along the tributaries of the main river in my town are severely flood damaged. We had the national guard driving down my street yesterday. Houses a half mile from me are completely under water.
My son's friend's family lost her home and 4 vehicles to the floodwaters.

Rick had been using his phone to communicate - if his power is still down, he may not be able to charge it?

Still don't have power, with no estimate as to when it'll be back. Have no signal for cell phone either. Can't even send out text messages.
My guess is that since we're so close to the area that's flooded, that's affecting the electric company.
Feels like temps of 95, is no fun without ac.

You must have driven near a working tower?
Sorry you're experiencing this - but I know you also realize how fortunate you are, as opposed some very close to you.
P.S. I'll contact Kirk Cameron and tell him to keep his big pie hole shut!

Seriously, Rick, how are things going down there - lots of power out in the area?
