Words can mean many different things in a given verse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k_P1kM7xqM

This is a biggie - a mistake I see cherrypickers and prooftexters make all the time! They'll cobble together various verses apart from diverse and very dissimilar contexts, and then try to make some point or assertion.

However, as I've said before, there can sometimes be more than one application of points a passage is conveying. So, we have to be very careful. But some parts of the creation texts are one of those places that can have context for the ancient audience and us today - in a way that contradicts nor falsifies either, but the original understandings were not totally understood by that first audience. And although the modern audience has a message unique to us, we can easily misunderstand the original audience's contextual understandings. But like Mike says, "Context is KING!!!"
