Will edit this later... thoughts..

Nothing "no thing"
Something "some thing"
There can't be nothing without something..
If there was nothing before the big bang there must have been something for there to be nothing..

The big bang states that the universe started from an event that caused a quantum singularity to start expanding.
We do NOT know what caused the expansion, only that the singularity started to expand about 13.5 billion years ago.
There is no opinion on what was there, if anything, "before" the singularity.

There HAD to be SOMETHING, else we're back to Byblos' explanation of the unconnected / unsupported bookcase simply A) existing independently and B) without any support or connections.

There cannot be nothing and something, simultaneously.

Maybe Story meant, there can't be ANYTHING without something (and A) that something had do precede ALL other things and could not have created itself).

Oh so IOW if there were a point in history when nothing existed, nothing would currently exist because things cannot self create?

If storyteller meant that, she'd be discounting creation ex nihilo.

Not only that, she'd be setting Kenny off on an endless set of questions that have already been explained to him ad nauseum.

If there was nothing then something was nothing. If there was something and that something was nothing then nothing was something that was nothing. On the other hand, if there was nothing and that nothing was something then something was nothing that was something.

As a wise man once said,”Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not adding tomato to a fruit salad. Philosophy is wondering if ketchup is a smoothie...

Some find it easier to understand by substituting in the divine attribute of love.

We'd say "God is love" rather than "God has always loved."
