I found this amusing...

Trump says it 'doesn't seem fair' that 30 million Americans are uninsured and suggests he may expand Medicare or Medicaid - https://www.businessinsider.com.au/coro ... ans-2020-4

Joe Biden rejects Medicare for all, says it wouldn’t have slowed coronavirus spread - https://nypost.com/2020/04/03/joe-biden ... us-crisis/

Biden's comments are no surprise. He favors a mixed system with Medicare for those who want or need it and private insurance for those who can get it through work or pay for it themselves. Personally, I'd prefer universal healthcare but Biden's plan, which is pretty much to expand the ACA, would be an improvement over the current system.

Trump is actually no surprise, either. He's just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Remember when he agreed to DIane Feinstein's proposal of a clean DACA bill and Mark Meadows had to step in to tell him that he actually meant the opposite of what he'd just said? That's classic Trump. Half the time he doesn't understand the conversation, and it's not at all unusual for him to suddenly tweet out some policy change or other based on something he just heard on Fox and Friends. The McConnell and Graham and the rest will tell him what he really meant to say and he'll fall back in line, same as always.

Meantime, Trump could simply open nationwide enrollment to the ACA right now and save a lot of people from death and a lot of families from medical bankruptcy. He won't though, because it would be an open admission that, as much as he griped about the ACA and bragged about his plan to replace it with something better, he's still got nothing. So yeah, better to let people die and families go broke than to admit that he was wrong, the ACA has its good points, and he has no ideas of his own.
“I have to tell you, it’s an unbelievably complex subject. Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated.”

~ Donald Trump, suddenly realizing what everyone else has known for years

My favorite “young at heart” 80 year old, Nancy Pelosi is of at least equal importance.

She is an amazing woman. Truly an inspiration to us all.

Nancy P. was either a stunningly beautiful woman in her youth, or...she has an excellent plastic surgeon.

Maybe...but the photo of her as a young woman shows her as simply beautiful. Considering the prejudices of the time, it is to her credit that she occupies her present position in government. She must be quite smart and determined.

To paraphrase an old cigarette ad, you’ve come a long way, baby!

To each his own, I guess.

Even though she was a rather plain looking young lady, she grew up to be my hero!

I bet she makes a mean sammich!

You’re calling her "a rather plain looking young lady" likely because you’re judging the photo according to modern norms...and you’re probably blinded by your politics. Try to put your prejudices aside for a moment. If you look at a photo of young women from the 50s (maybe your own mother’s pic?) you’ll understand that Ms Pelosi was quite the looker then, as she is now. Anyway, what she looks like isn’t important. What is important is her contribution to the country.

Uh...no. I looked at a picture. She’s plain looking to me, in the picture, regardless of the period of time she grew up.

I see a plain looking woman. I don’t see a plain looking democrat.
Politics has nothing to do with the way she looks to me. I could name a dozen actresses, who I think look beautiful, and have nothing in common with me politically. Take Jane Fonda for example. She was beautiful.

y:O2

You have some serious issues, if you think Nancy Pelosi is quite the looker, at 80 years old. Maybe you need glasses. Or maybe you’ve been drinking too much whisky.

Here, FIFY:
What is important is her lack of contribution to the country.
