OK, here’s a topic you don’t hear too often (or ENOUGH) from Christian pastors about: SEX! Oh, we hear a lot preached about sexual immorality or the many harmful and tragic ways mankind has abused it. But, unfortunately, don’t hear much about the positive intentions God has for our sexuality. And because of this, many Christians and non-Christians often have very distorted understandings of God’s views and intentions for us concerning sex – an activity that - without, none of us would even be here. And God designed sex to be beautiful, joyful, intoxicating, desirous, and yes – PLEASURABLE - and the very source of life itself! It is GOD that designed our bodies' glorious and pleasurable physical nerve endings and touch points that give us the ability to make sex physically amazing. God designed sex to be a constant source of wonder, mystery and excitement. And so, perhaps unsurprisingly, God’s very FIRST command to humans after their creation had to do with – you guessed it – SEX!
Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth."
Further, in Genesis 2, we learn about God’s sexual design for humanity, as He made certain that Adam and Eve understood that they were created for each other and a sexual union, intimacy and fellowship, and did so when He took Eve and introduced her to Adam: “And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:24: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become ONE flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”
