So many around the world - particularly in its non-Christian parts, mistakenly tend to think of Christianity as being a Western faith. But what they fail to understand is that the origins of the faith and its belief in and knowledge of the Christian God / Yahweh / Jesus the Messiah began FAR from the West, in the area near modern-day Iraq. And Jesus, the Messiah God of Christianity, took on human form by being (as it was long prophesied in Scripture, before his birth) was born a Jew, in Roman-occupied, ancient Israel. And the father of the Jewish nation was Abraham, the patriarch of her 12 tribes, from which Jesus descended from, on both His father's and mother's sides. And Abraham (originally named Abram, until God changed it) was personally called by God out of his homeland of Ur, in ancient Mesopotamia.
Genesis 12: Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” And Scripture teaches that the blessing to come (noted in verse 3) would come through his descendant Jesus of Nazareth! And the land that God promised to show Him was the land of the Canaanites - which became the homeland of Israel and her 12 tribes.
So, Christianity's roots are from Ancient Mesopotamia and Israel - and NOT form the West! Only after the missionary travels of Paul and God's other Apostles did Christianity rapidly begin its spread to the West. And, today, some of the fastest-growing regions Christianity is spreading in include Asia, China and Africa!
