.... permanently set the order of posts in discussions so that the newest one is first? I know I can set it using the dropdown at the bottom of the page, but it doesn't retain the setting.

The order of posts in discussions should already be displayed from newest (top) to oldest (bottom)...?

Oops... you meant posts within threads? There is no way to set it permanently, however you can simply click on the last page number to go directly to the end post.

Are you also aware of the orange icon in front of the thread name that will take you to the most recent post that you haven't read?
